The Arts Society Englemere  

is a member of The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) the leading arts charity established for furthering knowledge and appreciation of the arts and is now celebrating its 50th year.


  • Based in ASCOT, Berkshire with a thriving and lively membership of 200+.
  • Monthly lecture meetings held on the second Tuesday evening of each month (except August and December).
  • Regular visits to stately homes, museums, exhibitions. In addition an annual guided tour in the UK or abroad.
  • The Lecturers are approved by The Arts Society and are of high quality and are experts in their own field.

A Carpet Ride to Khiva

15th Century carpet designs from a desert oasis in Uzbekistan may seem to be a rather dry subject, but Chris Alexander will tell us about its importance to the social and cultural lives of the women who weave the and embroider these products.  Chris established a UNESCO workshop in Khiva to create income for the women and to preserve this rich tradition of textile design and manufacture
