The Age of Jazz

Tuesday, 12th February 2019

at St George's School, Ascot.

Reception from 7:00 pm.

Lecture commences at approximately 7:45pm

Sandy Burnett’s lecture covers the early years of jazz from its beginnings through to the start of the Second World War.  Jazz is a fascinating blend of rigorous structure, free-wheeling creativity, close-knit ensemble work and improvisation.

Sandy studied music at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge and worked as music director for the RSC,  the National Theatre and in London’s West End.  He spent a decade as one of the core teams of music presenters on BBC Radio 3.
