The Arts Society Englemere  

is a member of The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) the leading arts charity established for furthering knowledge and appreciation of the arts and is now celebrating its 50th year.


  • Based in ASCOT, Berkshire with a thriving and lively membership of 200+.
  • Monthly lecture meetings held on the second Tuesday evening of each month (except August and December).
  • Regular visits to stately homes, museums, exhibitions. In addition an annual guided tour in the UK or abroad.
  • The Lecturers are approved by The Arts Society and are of high quality and are experts in their own field.

Ancient Egyptian Treasures of the Ashmolean

The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford houses one of the finest collections of Egyptian antiquities in the UK.  Lucia Gahlin will tell us about a wealth of ancient Egyptian material, examining highlights of the collection from the 4th Millennium BC through to the 2nd Century AD.  Lucia is an Egyptologist who lectures and works in museums and on excavations in Egypt.  She teaches Egyptology for the University of Exeter and is Honorary Research Associate at UCL’s Institute of Archaeology and Co-Director of Bloomsbury Summer School also at UCL
