The Arts Society Englemere  

is a member of The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) the leading arts charity established for furthering knowledge and appreciation of the arts and is now celebrating its 50th year.


  • Based in ASCOT, Berkshire with a thriving and lively membership of 200+.
  • Monthly lecture meetings held on the second Tuesday evening of each month (except August and December).
  • Regular visits to stately homes, museums, exhibitions. In addition an annual guided tour in the UK or abroad.
  • The Lecturers are approved by The Arts Society and are of high quality and are experts in their own field.

Sunken Treasure from the East

Chinese blue and white porcelain of the Ming Dynasty has been a much sought after product of China’s ancient trade with the West.  Professor Marie Conte-Helm will trace the history and production of this Chinese porcelain and the origin of its distinctive colour.  Marie has a BA in History of Art and an MA in Asian Art.  She is currently Executive Director of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
